HVAC Air Duct Sealing

HVAC ducts represent the most common point of weakness in air conditioning and heating systems. This is because they have so many joints that may be more prone to error and defects than the vents themselves.

When flexible ductwork is used, problems may develop in bends. This may occur due to contaminants in the air, exposure to heat, damage from animals and a long list of causes.

Rather than replacing an entire heating and air conditioning system, HVAC air duct repair and HVAC air duct sealing can make a system both effective and efficient again.

How Does HVAC Air Duct Repair Work?

At All Pro Duct Cleaning, we are capable of repairing air ducts that have been damaged. We can utilize a variety of techniques to effectively repair this damage.

One option we have is to utilize mastic in tandem with patching material to seal small holes, tears and other damage that may have occurred. This provides a durable repair that can last a number of years while preventing further damage from occurring.

For larger damage, such as in the event of animal damage or defects in flexible ductwork, we can replace the damaged portion of the duct. Our repairs are kept efficient by removing and replacing the minimum amount of material, which in turn makes the repair stronger and cheaper than complete replacement.

In the event that metal ductwork has corroded or damage has occurred to it, we can remove and replace the affected portions. We may be able to provide a sealant that will deter further damage, which in turn can strengthen the repairs we make during HVAC air duct repair.

What About HVAC Air Duct Sealing?

Air duct sealing is similar to air duct repair, but it focuses on sealing the seams around the ducts. These seams exist where one duct connects to another component, such as where the return air duct connects to the fan that draws air into the return.

The reason HVAC air duct sealing may be necessary pertains to the many problems that can arise during the initial installation of an air conditioning system and its continued usage. Poor seals will eventually degrade as air passes through the ducts.

Issues like mold and other contaminants can expedite this failure, which is why regular duct sealing will help to make a system efficient, reliable and less prone to allergen infiltration.
