7 Duct Cleaning Steps

Introduce our selfs to the customer, and do a tour of the home locating the the vents and furnace.

Prepping the vents and furnace. Before the prepping begins, we show you our clean and sanitized vacuums, and you guessed it when we are all finished we invite you outside to show you EVERYTHING that came out of your system. Prepping the vents involves using steel wool and a putty knife on the vents themselves removing paint overspray, texture overspray, taping mud and dirt/dust debris. And then we vacuum out the first four or five feet, removing all the large debris(construction debris, toys, heavy dirt/dust debris ect. ect.) so we’re not pushing it all the way to the furnace. Prepping the furnace involves sealing off the furnace from from the air ducts themselves( a piece of cardboard in place of the filter, or a plastic bag over the blower motor). Now it’s time to hook our negative air HEPA vacuum up to the supply plenum( metal ductwork above and below the furnace). At this point your system is now under negative air. The last step in this process is sealing off each vent with a piece of plastic.

Cleaning the air ducts. Starting at the furthest vent from the furnace we take off the plastic and vent cover. Now what you have is that negative air concentrated in that one line of ductwork because every other vent in the house is sealed off. Now we navigate our forced air rods and agitation tool charged with 140psi from where the vent meets the floor/ceiling all the way to the furnace. Now we simply work our way vent by vent to the closest vent to the furnace. Now that the supply’s are finished we hook our negative air HEPA vacuum up to the return plenum side of the duct work. And like the supply vents we seal off all the cold air returns in the house with plastic. And again like the supply’s, we start at the return furthest from the furnace and work our way to the closest.

Now it’s time too clean the furnace. First we navigate through the access points in the supply and return plenums into the main trunks(for the second time now) to insure we get as much out of your system as we can. Now we clean the furnace(blower motor, A/C coils, ect.) After we install the doors on the furnace and install the filters, we turn on the furnace to make sure everything is in good working order!!

Now we get all the tools, cords and hoses back in the van and the vacuums set aside for the end presentation. After this is finished we head back in the house and put back the furniture, beds and rugs that were moved or shifted to complete the duct cleaning. Now we head out and clean the dryer vent(see dryer vent page). Dryer vent cleaning is a free service we provide with every air duct cleaning.

This is my favorite part. This is where we invite you outside to show you the vacuums after the cleaning. First we show you the shop vacuum, this is the vacuum we used to clean out the first 4 or 5 feet of the duct work and general cleanup. In this vacuum you can expect to see construction debris, heavy dirt/dust debris, toys, pet hair, food and bugs to name a few. Now for the negative air HEPA vacuum. We show you all three stages of Filtration. Starting with the first stage where the heavier dirt/dust debris are found all the way to the third stage which is the HEPA filter where all the superfine dust can be found.

Now we fill out our detailed invoice complete with a system analysis. Now I like to go over the system analysis and answer any questions the customer might have. We accept most major forms of payment. Cash, Check, Visa and MasterCard. And, all of us at All Pro Thank You for your business!!!!!
